I bet you’ve all been wondering what the heck I’ve been up to in the last year?
It’s been weird.
Truthfully, I was waiting around to see if my last full time job would do layoffs… and they did.
And you probably couldn’t have figured out that I have been working as a Sr. Creative Recruiter for the past 5.5 years with a few different Global Agencies. While I ran The Gypsy Goddess on the side and after hours.
I’ve been officially unemployed for almost a year since May of 2023. It’s had its pros and cons.
I’d say its had more pros more than anything! I was able to fully go into building out more of my business!
One main con was not being able to rely on full time income ðŸ˜
I had to really hustle working on my business and getting contract and freelance projects as a designer.
One case in point I was freelancing apparel graphics with SHEIN all of fall of 2023. And creating collections to pitch to licensing agencies.
I went from not having time working on my business to spending all of my time working on The Gypsy Goddess. And honestly, I am so glad I did!
I also realized that I love teaching! I was fortunate enough to be able to teach two courses at the Academy of Art University of San Francisco from 2016-2017 for three semesters.
If you’ve noticed, I haven’t created any YouTube videos for most of 2022 (we moved from California to Nevada) and 2023 where the job market was kind of scary that I wanted to spend time building what I thought would make me more money in the longterm.
